Insulating Castable:
Insulating Castable is a castable refractory with a relatively low thermal conductivity: it usually has a low in-place density of less than 100 lb/ft3 (1600 kg/m3).
It is a type of refractory material designed specifically for its superior thermal insulation properties. It consists of lightweight aggregates, such as expanded perlite or vermiculite, mixed with fine powders and a binder. The lightweight nature of insulating castables results in low thermal conductivity, allowing for effective heat insulation in high-temperature applications.
These castables are used to line industrial furnaces, kilns, and other thermal equipment, providing insulation to reduce heat loss and improve energy efficiency. Insulating castables offer the advantage of both thermal insulation and sufficient mechanical strength, making them ideal for applications where insulation is a priority.
